What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Academics Tutor Specialist position at University of Jamestown?
The University of Jamestown seeks a Nursing Academics Tutor Specialist to develop skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of nursing students through mentorship and individualized guidance. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to helping students understand complex concepts and succeed in their coursework. This role is responsible for providing individual and group tutoring sessions, clarifying learning problems and work on study skills. Other duties of this position will include reviewing class materials, discussing the text, formulating ideas and supporting student preparedness for examinations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Preference for a Graduate Degree in Nursing.
- Prefer previous experience teaching or tutoring in a nursing or healthcare setting working with diverse, underserved populations.
- Strong understanding of nursing practices and the curriculum that surrounds those practices.
- Current unencumbered nursing license in the state of ND or able to obtain. If holding a compact license, may also be required to obtain non-compact state licenses. If holding a non-compact state license, may be required to obtain other state licenses.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to promoting excellence in nursing education.
- Support the success of students from underserved communities, including first-generation college students and those who are racially and socioeconomically marginalized.
- Ability to inspire and motivate nursing students.
