Job Duties
Establish and maintain a nutrition, diabetes, obesity, and metabolism-centered basic, clinical, or translational research program.
Engage in multi-investigator research efforts.
Participate in training and education of graduate / doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows in research settings and in formal and informal group education formats.
Aid the departmental and KUMC research community in research utilizing metabolomics and lipidomics via mass spectrometry technology.
Publish research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present in local, national, and international conferences.
Contribute University committees that support research and teaching missions.
Pursue basic, translational, and / or clinical research in diabetes, metabolism, and obesity to identify therapeutic targets and interventions for metabolic disease conditions.
Collaborate on research efforts with other disease states or conditions linked to metabolic deficits including cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, pulmonary conditions, liver disease, etc.

Required Qualifications
Education : MD or PhD degree or equivalent
Work Experience :
Established record of scholarly productivity related to basic science (diabetes, metabolism, nutrition, obesity cell, molecular biology, or genetics) and / or translational and clinical investigation
Evidence of externally funded research.
Experience with teaching or mentoring students at all degree and post-graduate levels
Evidence of training and expertise in mass spectrometry platforms for metabolomics and lipidomics measures in biological tissues and fluids.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience :
Investigators with documented expertise in basic science (diabetes, metabolism, nutrition, cell, molecular biology, or genetics) and / or clinical studies.
Experience with interdisciplinary publication.
