Job Description Summary
The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is seeking a full-time, mid-career or senior academic clinician scientist (Associate Professor or Professor) with demonstrated interest in research and behavioral interventions. The successful candidate will join a burgeoning team of physicians, psychologists, and allied health professionals in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, as well as the University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC) and the Center for Survivorship and Patient-Oriented Research (CSPOR). This position will be at least 75% research (clinical research, translational research), with the remaining effort split between clinical care and education. Responsibilities center on development of multidisciplinary, grant-funded behavioral interventions in cancer survivors and caregivers. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of excellence in clinical care, originality and productivity in research, existing or potential for consistent extramural funding, and an interest in graduate and medical education.
Tenure: Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.
The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. This position is recruiting a Clinician-Investigator.

Job Duties Outlined:
- Develop/support a research program to attract funding and establish areas of expertise in onco-psychology and cancer survivorship.
- Develop collaborative and independent research programs supporting the mission of KUMC and to obtain extramural funding to support these initiatives.
- Publish and present study results with local, national, or international audiences.
- Create clinical guidelines, policies, or patents.
- Work effectively with KUMC Research Administration or outside collaborative facilities.
- Provide clinical activities that support the department's teaching efforts including lectures and other activities to medical students, physicians in graduate medical education and psychology trainees as appropriate.
- Serve in local or national academic and scientific organizations. Serve on Department committees and provide service to the School of Medicine, University, or hospital as appropriate.

- Education: MD or PhD in a field related to Mental Health. Graduate of U.S. accredited program in appropriate graduate field. Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas to do clinical work.
- Work Experience: Research performance history, including as principal investigator of federally-funded awards, is required. Expertise leading behavioral interventions.
- Work Experience: R01-funding or equivalent, experience interfacing with other medical school and hospital departments & expertise in an area related to Onco-Psychology, especially cancer survivorship, but established programs in other psychiatric areas will be considered.
