Job Description Summary:
Monitor and maintain the organization's Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases. Help analyze the organization's data and database needs. Monitor policies and carries out procedures related to data security and integrity. Monitor and limit database access as needed. Help oversee the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems that manage an internal database. Data management includes: Monitor the database for efficient operations; migrate data as required, ensure database users have adequate access to data; resolve data conflicts as needed; assist in solving application and ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) problems; and others as assigned. Other duties include the continual support of the Java Programming needs for Information Resources.

Job Duties:
- Monitor performance of database systems resources and query throughput.

Optimize SQL Code as necessary.

Monitor and maintain database storage resources, maintenance plans for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics.

Troubleshoot, develop or participate in the development of ETL systems using Visual Studio, SSIS, TSQL, PowerShell for MS SQL Server 2012-2019 Integration Services packages.

Database Installation, Upgrades, Migrations and Configurations, installation of database software service packs and cumulative updates as necessary.

Maintain database documentation as required.

Perform database Ad-hoc backups and restores.

Proactively monitor and respond to database Alerts.

Keep abreast of current Information Technology industry enhancements, theories and practices through self-education, membership in professional associations and formal training.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.
Work Experience:
- Experience administering relational databases in a Windows environment.

Experience with operating systems, database systems, Windows Clustering with SQL Server, AlwaysOn Availability, system tools, network operations, and communication functions.
- Experience in bringing new database systems to productive use in a short period of time.
- Experience handling the pressure of several assignments while maintaining good working relationships with technical and user personnel wishing to use the databases.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Experience with SQL Server 2012-2019, Visual Studio, SSIS, TSQL, PowerShell for MS SQL Server 2012-2019, Integration Services, Windows Server Failover Clustering.

Experience with maintaining communication and reporting interfaces among technical, functional departments, and senior management.
- Experience working with faculty and others in an academic environment.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
