Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will lead efforts to deliver reporting, business intelligence, financial modeling and forecasting. This role will drive data-driven decision support, business optimization, and strategic financial planning for the institution. Specific responsibilities of the position will include the following:

Job Responsibilities

Partner with leadership to identify and prioritize areas and projects which would benefit from detailed planning and analysis efforts.

Develop financial models and analyses to increase understanding of the economics of current operations, as well as to estimate financial metrics resulting from contemplated future initiatives.

Build, analyze, and present models, forecasts and reports, to provide key metrics and insights to KUMC leadership to guide business decisions and uncover opportunities for financial and business optimization.

Collaborate closely with relevant teams (Central Finance, Enterprise Analytics, etc.) to identify, prioritize, and validate the delivery of essential data and reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational needs.

Research and evaluate industry best practices and incorporate into analyses as appropriate.

Train and mentor individuals across the institution on the use of centrally available data analysis tools and techniques, and to promote a data-driven culture.

Promote an approach of collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence within the organization.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Business, or other relevant field
Work Experience:
-
5 years of experience in either high level accounting, finance, auditor, or IT positions.

Demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities, ideally in finance / accounting positions.
-
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
-
Experience delivering insights via data analysis and financial modeling in a complex corporate or university environment.
- Experience identifying and driving process and system optimization.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Masters degree in relevant field
Work Experience:
-
Project management experience.

Experience with business intelligence tools such as Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics, etc.

Familiarity with Workday ERP system and data models.
-
Experience with the analysis of data in an academic medical center or higher education.
- Expertise with data acquisition, warehousing, and database management including use of SQL.
Skills

Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of budgeting and finance.

Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and assimilate complex financial and operating data into effective financial models.

Excellent presentation skills with ability to tailor information to various target audiences including executive level.

Knowledge and understanding of financial, human resource, facilities, and grants/research systems and data.

High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced MS Excel skills.

Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels of an organization

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
