Job Duties Outlined :

Tobacco Treatment Education Job Duties

Assist with scheduling and organizing meetings, including preparing agendas, minutes, and reports.

Assist with maintaining all records and files, preparing documents, maintaining databases, preparing and collating teaching materials and accreditation application materials as necessary.

Assist with implementing program protocol to include organizing logistics for on-line and in-person TTE programs (as needed).

UKanQuit Job Duties

Provide tobacco treatment counseling and health education with hospitalized and ambulatory patients at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Document all encounters in the electronic medical record.

Collaborate with patients’ medical team regarding smoking cessation medication and treatment plans.

Complete data collection and data entry for the tobacco treatment service and any related research efforts.

Participate in process / quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of services.

Assist with course development, including optimizing for accessibility standards; and working with trainees, stakeholders and faculty for curriculum development, management, and revisions.

Assist with maintaining accurate and confidential student records and preparing internal and external reports.

Assist with developing data collection forms, preparing summaries of data and procedures as needed for the Director and for scientific presentation and publication of the study data.

Assist with marketing the program via emails to professional associations, social media, and booths at conferences. Some travel may be required.

Assist with any other duties as assigned by Director of KU TTE Program.

Required Qualifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, public health, education, or a related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.

Work Experience :

Minimum one (1) year experience with computer applications for word processing - MS Word and Excel, databases, and spreadsheets.

Tobacco Treatment Specialist training completed or willing to obtain training provided by employer.

Strong track record of maintaining collegial work environment through flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations.

Requires initiative and confidentiality as well as ability to work in a team setting.

Must be able to navigate a large hospital complex to meet daily patient visit goals during each hospital shift. Most shifts are completed in person.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience :

Demonstrated experience developing distance learning courses and planning scientific meetings and conferences.

Experience providing counseling, coaching, or health education in a healthcare setting.

National certification or experience in tobacco treatment.

Experience in REDCap or similar database program.

Experience with O2 / Epic or similar medical record systems.

Experience with Blackboard or similar learning management systems.

Experience conducting surveys and recruitment for research studies.

Skills :

Must be highly organized, productive at multi-tasking, and possess a high level of attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people, including medical providers, behavioral health professionals, frontline care providers, students, and research staff.

Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation Statement :

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
