Job Description Summary
THIS POSITION IS FOR SOM and SHP students ONLY.
Summer Anatomy Lab Assistant for the School of Health Professions (SHP). Assist in the instruction of students enrolled in SHP summer anatomy classes, through the direct instruction and demonstration in gross anatomy laboratories.
Lab preparation as well as contact time with students will require up to 25 hours per week. The course will be 8 weeks long, and take place during the summer academic session.
The Anatomy Assistant will report directly to the instructor of record for the SHP didactic portion of the course.
The estimated starting hourly wage will be $18/hr.

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.

- Attend an instructional orientation session prior to the beginning of summer classes (in May).
- Responsible for lab preparation prior to each laboratory session.
- Interact directly with students during dissection laboratories.
- Provide tutoring sessions when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education: Current SOM or SHP student
Work Experience
- Prior experience in gross anatomy.
- Experience providing novice students with clear and supportive guidance.
Work Experience:
- Excellent grades in Pre-Professional course work.
- Excellent grades in Professional course work.
- Past experience teaching or tutoring.
- A demonstrated understanding of principles of human anatomy
