Job Description Summary:
The University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a one-year paid Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Urology. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will carry out urology research and will work closely with urology faculty across urologic sub-specialties. This position will have a focus on benign urologic research and functional conditions of the lower urinary tract. The candidate will conduct data collection and analyses; coordinate research project milestones; contribute to annual grant reports; lead and contribute to scholarly writing for peer-reviewed abstracts and publications; attend national and international specialty meetings; and collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary research team. The Research Fellow will attend Urology residency education programming, including grand rounds, lectures, and journal clubs. The Research Fellow will report to Dr. Colby Souders, Associate Professor, and the Research Program Manager. Strong candidates will have or be a candidate for a medical degree, and an interest in pursuing a Urology residency position.
Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Reviews and assists with editing of new research protocols.

Grant-writing and design of new studies.

Work independently and collaboratively on research projects.

Publish results in scientific manuscripts and research publications.

Participate in seminars, meetings, trainings and other educational sessions.

Synthesize existing data and generate manuscript proposals. Perform data analysis and draft comprehensive APA-style results sections, including tables, graphs, and figures.

Recruit and educate potential patients for and evaluate potential patient eligibility for clinical trials.
- Contribute to institutional human subjects (IRB) proposals and modifications, ensuring protocols proposed are appropriate and applied
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Doctorate degree or doctoral degree candidate is required or equivalent terminal degree (such as MD, DVM, PsyD, PharmD, etc.)
Work Experience:
-
Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with general clinical research in urology and development of research in urology surgical techniques, including bio-engineering research.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work Experience:
Experience in clinical research or seeking to improve ability to match into urology residency.
Skills:

Strong problem solving, communication and writing skills,

Ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams including physicians and administrative staff.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
