What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Graphic Designer position at University Of Kansas Memorial?
Are you a creative graphic design student eager to gain hands-on experience while managing your academic workload? The KU Memorial Unions is seeking a motivated part-time graphic designer to join our team. This role is only available to students from the University of Kansas or surrounding colleges who can commute to our office.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement creative concepts across multiple campaign deliverables, both print and digital.
Participate in collaborative creative sessions with KU Memorial Unions staff, Marketing, Media, Programs, and Services teams.
Utilize project management software to schedule projects, track time, and interact with clients.
Produce design work in a timely manner while adhering to established project deadlines.
Conduct research to inform design concepts and contribute to creative brainstorming sessions.
Develop concept presentations for client review and approval.
Create and finalize design files for production and implementation.
Utilize emerging technology to enhance project development.
Follow brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all design work.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Assist with any additional duties as assigned by the Marketing and Programs Office.
2. Be prepared to work extended hours during peak periods.
3. Stay up to date on current and brand-relevant design techniques.
Required Qualifications:
1. Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art, Visual Communications, or a related field. Eligibility: University of Kansas students or students from surrounding colleges only.
2. Proficient in the Mac OS platform with strong experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Adobe Illustrator for designing and developing creative content.
4. Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. At least two years of experience in graphic design within a busy office environment; junior standing recommended.
2. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
3. Ability to use a DSLR camera effectively.
