HOURS: Up to 40 per week

JOB SUMMARY:
Employee may be assigned to either Ekdahl Dining Center or South Dining Commons. This role's primary function is to serve food to customers on the serving line, but all employees may be trained to perform any of the following job duties as required by business needs: cooking, cleaning, stocking, preparation of foods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Knowledge
-
Food preparation - Following the direction of supervisor this position may prep, cook, and properly store food. All food safety rules for handling and storing food must be followed.

Quality Control

Employee shall work with a clean as you go focus, paying attention to the upkeep of work area, cleaning tools and equipment after use, organizing area to ensure efficient completion of tasks.

Dependability

Employees are expected to arrive at work on time and ready to begin working at scheduled time, absence is required to be reported in advance per the employee handbook.

Planning and Organization

Required levels of work are necessary to maintain the operation of the business. Employees must be able to meet the expected levels of production or complete tasks in a timely manner.

Questions should be addressed to your assigned supervisor. When speaking to your co-workers’ tone should be business-like and civil. Written communication will be required in some cases; this should be as clear and concise as possible.

Establishes and maintains effective relationships while being positive and pleasant to co-workers and customers. Help co-workers with tasks when help is needed, work cooperatively in-group assignments to ensure task is successfully accomplished.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel including covering other workstations in absence of co-workers and assisting in other work areas after completing own tasks.

Interact positively with customers and coworkers. Follows up on customer concerns with supervisory staff.

May assist with stocking food into work areas and help in the general cleaning and upkeep of the entire kitchen area.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
-
Knowledge of- or ability to learn materials and methods used in preparation, holding and serving of quality food in a dining area and the use and care of appropriate utensils and equipment.

Knowledge of health, sanitary and safety standards and practices applied to food service.
-
Ability to follow recipes and instructions.
-
Ability to maintain a friendly disposition and dedication to serving the public.
-
Ability to perform above average physical requirements of food service work - stooping, bending, extensive walking, standing for long periods and lifting 50 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent
-
At least one year of previous food service experience
-
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Previous food service experience in college or institutional operation
-
SERV Safe Certified
