Initial schedule is 40 hours/week with the potential to become a regular full-time, benefitted employee after the successful completion of a 60-day evaluation period.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Team Member (Dishwasher) plays a crucial role within the Food Services Department. This position is responsible for replenishing service ware, maintaining quality and quantity control standards, assisting in training part-time employees, cleaning work areas and equipment, and setting up and closing down workstations. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Support:
-
Serve as a lead helper in the Ekdahl Dining or South Dining Commons dish room, ensuring a smooth workflow and adherence to operational standards.

Planning and Organization:
-
Efficiently set up and break down work areas, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are in place for optimal functionality.

Job Knowledge:
-
Operate, maintain, and clean all dishwashing equipment. Ensure all serviceware is washed and sanitized according to established procedures. Regularly monitor washing and rinsing temperatures to prevent foodborne pathogens.

Collaboration:
-
Transport and restock serviceware in designated locations throughout the kitchen and dining center. Promptly communicate any needs for additional supplies and equipment to the senior custodial supervisor.

Quality Assurance:
-
Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in accordance with food safety procedures. Ensure cleaning and sanitizing solutions, equipment, and towels are stocked as needed. Properly store, rotate, date, and label chemicals and supplies.

Leadership:
-
Assist in training part-time and less-experienced staff, ensuring they understand and adhere to operational standards and best practices.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISION:
Reports to supervisor as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School graduation or GED equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
1. Previous food service experience in a college or institutional operation.
2. Servsafe certified

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel including covering other workstations in absence of co-workers and assisting in other work areas after completing own tasks.
2. Interact positively with customers and coworkers. Follows up on customer concerns with supervisory staff.
3. May assist with stocking of foods into work areas and helping in the general cleaning and upkeep of the entire kitchen area.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Familiarity with materials, methods, and equipment used in washing serviceware.

Understanding of health, sanitation, and safety standards in food service.

Ability to maintain a friendly, service-oriented demeanor toward the general public.

Capacity to follow instructions and effectively train part-time employees.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including stooping, bending, extensive walking, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
