Job Summary
The University of Kentucky School of Music is seeking a full-time, 9-month, Lecturer in Music Theory and Composition to join our outstanding faculty in the UK School of Music to begin August 2025. This non-tenure track appointment is offered with a 1-year, renewable contract and holds a standard teaching expectation of 3 courses per semester. Teaching duties will include but may not be limited to undergraduate and graduate music theory and ear training courses, music theory for non-majors, and undergraduate advanced harmony. Supervision and mentoring of several graduate teaching assistants is required. An earned terminal degree in music theory or equivalent is required. Candidates with a minimum of five years of experience as an instructor of record teaching collegiate-level music theory are preferred.
The School of Music’s Division of Music Theory and Composition currently includes five full-time faculty. All faculty are expected to participate in service within the School of Music, the College of Fine Arts, and the University, as well as one’s profession.
