Why This Role Matters
As a Mortgage Loan Application Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and timely disclosure of conventional, government, and portfolio mortgage loans. Your attention to detail and knowledge of compliance regulations will help streamline loan processing and support both members and internal teams. More than just reviewing applications, you will be responsible for maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence in the early stages of the mortgage loan process. Your contributions will directly impact the success and satisfaction of our members and the organization.
What Youll Do
Application Review & Disclosure Management:
- Review mortgage loan applications for accuracy and completeness within the loan origination system.
- Verify accuracy of disclosures previously provided to borrowers.
- Prepare and provide early disclosures to applicants within required regulatory timeframes.
- Prepare and issue re-disclosures when necessary, based on valid changes in circumstances.
- Ensure proper documentation and imaging of all early disclosure paperwork.
Loan File Preparation & Coordination:
- Monitor new loan requests and ensure timely preparation of early disclosures.
- Communicate with mortgage loan officers and applicants to obtain missing application details.
- Assign files to Mortgage Loan Processors for the next stage of loan processing.
- Initiate third-party work orders once a fully executed Notice of Intent to Proceed is received.
- Serve as a backup to Secondary Market Specialist when needed.
Compliance & Operational Support:
- Ensure adherence to internal UKFCU policies and board-established guidelines.
- Comply with federal, state, and local mortgage regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of member and employee information.
- Assist in problem resolution by addressing member concerns and escalating issues when necessary.
- Stay informed of industry trends, competitor practices, and regulatory changes.
Who You Are
Experience & Education
- One to two years of similar or related experience required.
- Experience with secondary market processing preferred.
- Associates degree or equivalent experience.
Skills & Strengths
- Strong understanding of federal and state mortgage regulations.
