Why This Role Matters
As the Underwriting Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of our loan underwriting process while maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You will oversee a team of underwriters, providing leadership, training, and guidance to ensure high-quality lending decisions that are optimized and align with our mission of serving members responsibly. Your role is crucial in optimizing workflow, enhancing team performance, and ensuring UKFCU's lending operations meet both member expectations and regulatory standards.
What You'll Do
- Team Leadership: Direct, develop, motivate, and manage the performance of underwriting staff, including conducting performance evaluations and administering coaching and training.
- Workflow Management: Oversee underwriting processes to ensure timely and efficient loan decisions while maintaining compliance with policies and regulations.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with Retail staff, the Associate Vice Presidents of Retail, Loan Processing Manager, Lending supervisors, and teams to meet member experience expectations and enhance service delivery.
- Policy & Compliance: Ensure underwriting decisions adhere to UKFCU policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Review and revise procedures annually to maintain compliance.
- Quality Control: Monitor underwriting activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of loan documentation, including credit reports, income verification, and third-party documentation.
- Fraud Prevention: Identify and investigate any signs of fraudulent activity and take appropriate action.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess underwriting processes and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Product Evaluation: Assess potential new loan products and provide recommendations for their implementation.
- Technology & Reporting: Work with IT to implement necessary system changes and generate analytical reports on underwriting trends and loan performance. Oversee monthly production of the team by monitoring and analyze metrics.
Who You Are
Experience & Education
- 2-5 years of similar or related experience preferred.
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Smartsheet skills preferred.

This position allows for an optional hybrid work arrangement which includes a combination of both in-office and remote work arrangements. (Maximum of two days remote, three days in-office). To be eligible for the program, employees must complete a minimum of 90 days of continuous, regular employment, be in good standing, and submit a formal hybrid work application prior to being eligible for hybrid work, pending supervisor approval. Work schedules will be established by the employee's supervisor according to business needs. Working locations and schedules may be altered at management discretion.
