| Job Summary | The Laboratory Scientist/Certified/UKHC will be responsible for performing laboratory testing in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position, located in the Cell Therapy Lab, will process, evaluate, preserve, store, and thaw cell therapy products vital to hemopoietic stem cell transplant patient recovery and survival. Cell therapy products include bone marrow, peripheral blood stem cells, and therapeutic cells. The Laboratory Scientist will be expected to function within compliance standards and have a high quality approach. This position will also provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers and have the ability to help update and evolve the procedures within the laboratory. This CAP and FACT Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky utilizes good tissue practice (GTP). The Laboratory Services department has a variety of specialties and areas.
