Physical Requirements | Moving and lifting object from floor to above shoulders up to 25 pounds. Standing and sitting at computer terminals and laboratory bench completing repetitive tasks for extensive periods of time. Continuous working with materials requiring personal protective equipment in accord with EH&S policy. |

Job Summary | The laboratory of Dr. Shannon Macauley is seeking a Laboratory Technician Senior to assist with experiments related to the study of Alzheimer’s disease and how alterations in brain metabolism relate to sleep impairment, vascular dysfunction, and inflammation in Alzheimer’s pathology. Ultimately, the goal is to leverage these findings as therapeutic targets for treating Alzheimer’s disease and other CNS disorders. Research duties will include, but are not limited to, in vivo mouse studies (e.g. small animal surgeries, clamps, in vivo microdialysis, EEG/EMG recordings, wide field optical imaging) and post-mortem analyses (e.g. immunohistochemistry, ELISAs, transcriptomics, metabolomics, EV isolation). The successful applicant will be expected to be highly organized, able to demonstrate the ability to generate experimental data, to have strong writing and communication skills, and to be a team player. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Basic computer and laboratory skills, English proficiency, being able to understand and apply both verbal and written directions. |

Preferred Education/Experience | Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field (science preferred) and research laboratory experience. |
