Physical Requirements
The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting, standing, walking, with some pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs.
Shift
Primarily Day Shift (40 hrs/wk); night and weekend shift rotations as needed.
Job Summary
The CT Surgery APP will work with the Cardiac Surgery team to provide inpatient care of the post-operative cardiac surgery patient from admission through discharge.
Responsible for medical management with some additional duties to include, but not limited to, the following: Removal of chest drains, Removal of epicardial pacing wires, placement and management of negative pressure surgical dressings, and Bedside surgical wound debridement. Rotating overnight phone calls for the cardiac surgical inpatient telemetry floor service with Residents and Attending Physician backup support. The Cardiac Surgery APP Team provides coverage for the service 365 days a year, with the work schedule divided evenly amongst team members in a rotating fashion. This includes weekend and holiday commitments.
The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills and timely and compliant documentation. It also takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
