N / A Physical Requirements Be able to occasionally lift objects weighing 20 lbs. Shift Weekdays between 8 : 00 am – 5 : 00 pm. Job Summary The hired student will assist in collecting insect and plant data from urban trees in the lab and in the field. This is a great opportunity to gain entomology and ecology research experience in a lab and field setting. If performance is satisfactory, the hired student may also work full-time during the summer 2025 semester. Job duties are : sort insects from plant debris in field-collected samples. Record scale insect densities and parasitism rates from field-collected tree branches. Help graduate students collect insect data from trees in the field. Water and prune research plants in the greenhouse and at various locations on campus. Measure plant growth and collect phytotoxicity data. Organize and maintain lab equipment. Enter data into excel. Create maps and geospatial data in GIS. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Possess a valid driver’s license, familiarity with Microsoft Office software, and ability to use a microscope. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education / Experience Understand how to maintain and care for plants, interest in entomology, and interest in working outside.
