Job Summary
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science ( CCTS ) is seeking a highly motivated, professionalSenior Research Development Director to contribute to the variety of perspectives and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. Our vision is to foster a community that guides and transforms our approaches to healthcare, education, research and community partnerships. We believe that the innovation, collaboration, and rigor that arise from bringing together different perspectives and ensuring fairness are essential to our mission of eliminating health disparities within the community.
Since its inception in 2006, the CCTS has invested millions of dollars into research funding and trainee support at the University of Kentucky through its commitment to funding innovative, early stage translational research. The CCTS’s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underserved populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, the Senior Research Development Directorrole will serve as a team member of the Clinical Research Organization.
The Senior Research Development Director is responsible for monitoring operations for all studies using CCTS coordinator services and identify areas for improvement; implement and oversee quality initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness through creative problem solving. This employee will provide training at the team level for quality improvement initiatives. They will provide expert guidance to research teams to navigate, prepare a plan for, and manage the lifecycle of the research study. Contribute to the strategic research planning processes for department/center and monitor goal and milestone attainment. Evaluate the feasibility of new studies, including staffing and budgetary requirements and negotiate partnerships with collaborators (external and internal). Generate and pursue continuing education opportunities for professional growth and research, for self and others. They will serve as a subject matter expert in HSP , RCR , HIPAA , IRB regulations, and Good Clinical Practice ( GCP ); advise CCTS team and UK research community on application of GCP to all study activities,
Successful candidates will have knowledge of UK, industry & federal budget requirements, scientific knowledge & knowledge of specific requirements for conduct of clinical/translational research studies as well as proactive problem solving, planning, coordination, communication, ethical conduct & leadership skills. This candidate will also need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts and build teams skills.
