Responsibilities:
The New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) provides essential resources for the conduct of both basic and applied research using non-human primates to address human health and societal challenges. The Center also serves the broader biomedical community by enabling external investigators to conduct all or part of their research at NIRC.
Position Summary: The Flow Cytometry Laboratory Specialty Analyst is responsible for developing and executing specialized flow cytometry procedures, including the generation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and validation of relevant methods and instrumentation. This role supports pharmacodynamics and efficacy testing of novel preclinical therapeutics, particularly those involving non-human primate samples. The position requires expertise in flow cytometry, data analysis, and the coordination of laboratory activities.
Key Responsibilities:
-Develop and perform specialty procedures in flow cytometry, ensuring high-quality data generation and adherence to SOPs.
-Validate
and optimize flow cytometry instrumentation, including the BD FACSAria
Fusion and Miltenyi MACsQuant16, for pharmacodynamics and efficacy
testing.
-Provide
technical and scientific support for biomarker combination studies,
data analysis using FlowJo, and analysis of large datasets through tSNE
or equivalent methodologies.
-Interpret and present complex flow cytometry data to support research objectives.
-Maintain flow cytometers and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
-Order and manage laboratory supplies specific to cytometry needs.
-Train new personnel in flow cytometry procedures and proper use of laboratory equipment.
-Collaborate
with research teams on the isolation of cells from blood, bone marrow,
and other tissues, as well as assist in dose formulation procedures.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Science degree
-Expertise in multi-parametric flow cytometry/sorting
Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior experience in preparing preclinical trial dosing formulations, cell separation techniques and ELISPOT assays
-Strong computer skills are a must, as are skills in managing, planning, and organizing multiple activities.
-A motivated self-starter capable of meeting established deadlines.
-Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all staff members and visitors of the UL Lafayette NIRC.
