Assistant/Associate Professor - Occupational Therapy - OTD

Occupational therapy faculty member for the Master of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Doctorate Programs.Faculty duties and responsibilities include teaching graduate courses, mentoring and advising graduate students through research projects, actively pursuing scholarly research and funding, and engaging in service at the departmental, college, university, and community levels. Faculty will provide optimal learning experiences for the students and produce competent, entry-level graduates. They shall function according to the AOTA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. They shall follow and enforce all policies of the profession and of the university as stated in the university catalog, faculty handbook, and student policy paper. They shall contribute to the professional preparation of the occupational therapy student.  The faculty must have documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery method (e.g., traditional pedagogy and distance learning).
The faculty shall be specifically responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• coordinating, planning, organizing, and instructing courses through traditional and distance format as assigned;
• ensuring that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency;
• recommending textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to Program Director; 
• teaching all classes according to an approved course syllabus; 
• keeping students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements;
• advising current students and keeping them informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work; 
• maintaining accurate and complete scholastic records, including attendance records;
• ensuring that assigned classes are held as scheduled;
• participating in program review and development based on student learning outcomes; 
• organizing each course taught into an effective instrument of learning;
• incorporating various instructional methods to facilitate the best teaching and learning situations;
• incorporating instructional technologies in instructional delivery;
• keeping informed of current trends and new emerging practice via professional development activities to maintain and enhance areas of expertise;
• assisting in recruitment and retention of students;
• serving as an academic advisor to assigned students;
• posting and maintaining office hours for student consultations;
• submitting required reports to the appropriate university personnel;
• attending faculty meetings, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, or OT Program Director;
• becoming thoroughly familiar with all college and university policies and procedures and complying with all college and university policies and procedures;
• serving on and providing information to college and university committees as needed;
• advising of students interested in the occupational therapy programs; 
• performing other duties as assigned

1. The faculty member must be an occupational therapist who is certified by NBCOT and is licensed in the state of Louisiana.
2. The faculty member must hold a minimum of a master’s degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.  A doctoral degree is preferred. The doctoral degree is not limited to a doctorate in occupational therapy.
3. The faculty member should have professional experience in areas related to clinical practice.

Medium physical demand: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Salary : $30,000
