The University of Louisiana Monroe is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences.
The Opportunity
The College of Business and Social Sciences (CBSS) is home to the William D. Hoover School of Accounting, Financial and Information Services; School of Behavioral and Social Sciences; School of Construction Management; and the David and Sharon Turrentine School of Management. The College serves approximately 2,200 students with its fifteen undergraduate and five graduate programs and holds accreditations from AACSB for both Business and Accounting, ABET for the Computer Science program, ACCE for the Construction Management program, and CSWE for the Social Work program.
The Position
The Dean serves as the chief academic officer and the administrative head of the College. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean holds academic rank and is charged with the administration of the operation of the College through its instructional programs, research, publications, and service activities
Provides strategic leadership and represents the College to stakeholders
Establishes the vision and implements strategic planning consistent with the University strategic plan
Pursues strong relationships with industries and promotes entrepreneurship within the community
Recruits, retains, and leads high-quality faculty, staff, and students
Advocates for faculty, staff, and students within the College
Promotes a collaborative and innovative environment for faculty, staff, and students that supports professional excellence
Oversees, facilitates, and supports all programs to meet or exceed accreditation standards
Demonstrates stewardship of college resources
Models standards of ethical conduct and upholds professionalism
Supports college research activities including grant writing
Secures resources for internal and external college initiatives
Cultivates opportunities for and supports the efforts of the University’s Foundation
The successful candidate must:
Possess a terminal degree in a relevant discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
Exhibit an academic record of achievement in teaching excellence, scholarship, and service appropriate for appointment as a tenured full professor.
Demonstrate a commitment to academic standards, fiscal stewardship, and organizational structure.
Be an effective communicator committed to shared governance, capable of building relationships and fostering an environment of innovation, collegiality, and collaboration.
Have a record of successful fundraising initiatives that supports student success, employee development, and/or innovative initiatives or programs.
The ideal candidate will possess five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education as a school director, department chair, assistant dean, associate dean, or related administrator positions, with a strong understanding of AACSB accreditation.
