What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Radiologic Technology position at University of Louisiana Monroe?
Teach didactic and clinical coursework in support of the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Radiologic Technology program. Teach positioning, radiographic exposure, patient care, ethics, laboratory and clinical radiography. The position requires teaching classes, providing service to the institution, and engaging in scholarly and/or creative work.Class Preparation and Presentation:
- Prepare classroom instruction materials based on required and current information.
- Develop or obtain adequate audiovisual material to supplement lecture materials.
- Organize didactic presentations in such a manner that enhances comprehension by the student.
- Present classroom materials in an aesthetically pleasing and organized manner.
- Use a variety of presentation formats.
- Utilize various motivational techniques to encourage learning.
- Conduct classroom activities in such a manner as to encourage mutual respect between student and instructor.
- Conduct laboratories to provide practical experience to complement didactic experience.
- Complete preparation for laboratory experimentation prior to beginning of laboratory session.
- Encourage student questions.
- Encourage ethical and professional conduct.
- Meet class regularly and start and end classes on time.
- Meet lecture classes for the full time assigned.
- Submit supply list to ensure needed laboratory supplies and equipment by deadline requested.
- Ensure that the laboratory is clean and neat following completion of each laboratory session taught.
- Know and explain subject matter clearly with appropriate examples and illustrations.
- Be enthusiastic about subject matter and stimulate interest in material presented.
- Speak loudly and distinctly.
- Use classroom time to promote learning.
- Provide outside help when requested by students.
- Be impartial, courteous, and tactful in dealing with all students.
- Ensure that scheduling of outside assignments is reasonable.
- Be receptive to student opinion.
- Post office hours for student advisement.
- Be present in office for student advisement during posted hours.
- Document student advisement sessions and follow through with any problem areas.
- Advise students and handle problems as necessary regarding registration.
- Evaluate transcripts for transfer students and students changing their major to Radiologic Technology.
- Advise student as to course prerequisites and requirements for the clinical education phase of the program.
- Make students feel welcome to discuss their problems in a frank and forthright manner.
- Continuously strive to simplify resolutions to student academic issues.
- Prepare and administer classroom, /online/laboratory examinations.
- Prepare test items that are relevant to and covered in the class documents and assignments or outside assignments.
- Grade examinations in an unbiased and objective manner.
- Grade and return examinations to students in a prompt manner, preferably by the next class period.
- Observe and critique laboratory technique and conduct.
- Assign grades fairly and according to University and Departmental policies.
- Proctor examinations utilizing accepted protocol.
- Adjust length of test appropriately.
- Continue to further knowledge and expertise in Radiologic Technology by attending continuing education programs, reading professional journals
- Participate in Scholarly activity.
- Become involved in university, community, and professional affairs.
- Become involved in local, state, and national professional societies and associations.
- Assist in course development.
- Assist in student recruitment/retention activities.
- Attend various university functions to represent the Radiologic Technology faculty.
- Pursue any other duties assigned by Dean of the College of Health Sciences.
- Respond promptly to spoken and written requests from Program Director, Department Head, and other University Administrators.
- Write letters of recommendation for students.
- Participate in recruitment/retention of qualified students into the program.
- Correspond with interested students concerning profession and program.
- Attend or assist in various university or community functions that are deemed important for Community-University relations by university officials.
- Participate in university recruitment/retention activities.
- March in graduation as scheduled by the Dean the College of Health Sciences.
- Represent College of Health Sciences on university committees as the need and opportunity arises.
- Prepare and course outlines for professional courses taught with input from Program Director.
- Demonstrate professional demeanor with all individuals.
- Be receptive to new ideas and new programs.
- Make faculty members and staff feel welcome to discuss their problems in a frank and forthright manner.
- Provide leadership for co-faculty and students.
- Honor confidence of each faculty and staff member.
- Meet all university deadlines for any necessary activities
- A master’s degree in medical imaging or education with a minimum of two years post certification professional experience.
- Qualifications shall assure proficiency in instructing, curriculum development, supervision, evaluation and counseling.
- Registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and Currently Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.
Salary : $38,000 - $41,000
