What are the responsibilities and job description for the University Photographer position at University of Louisiana Monroe?
The university seeks a University Photographer responsible for fulfilling photo/video shoots with departments, offices, student groups and other campus-related activities. Activities are slated Monday through Friday and some nights and weekends.
- Captures and preserves the history, spirit, and brand of the University through photography
- Maintains ULM’s photo database and oversees photography projects
- Creates photographs of a variety of events, including sporting events, faculty and staff, campus and landscapes scenes, campus activities, art objects, buildings, individuals, groups, and other items deemed necessary to the University by properly using general and special purpose equipment.
- Establishes a consistent workflow for archiving all institutional photos
- Works with ULM's staff, faculty and student groups to make sure their events are photographed
- Provides photos for university publications, marketing materials and press releases
- Provide studio headshots for faculty, staff and students for official University activities
- Oversees the Zenfolio photos website
- Oversees student workers, practicum students, and graduate assistants assigned to photography
- Maintains all photography equipment
- Bachelor's degree in photography, digital media, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience is required
- Three years of experience in digital asset management preferred
- Working knowledge of industry standard digital photographic and video equipment including studio equipment
- Working knowledge of meta-tagging, naming conventions, quality control, batch uploading.
- Working knowledge of different image file formats and compressions
- Fluent in PC and Mac environments and archiving of digital and analog assets (Asset Management)
- Strong communication skills
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Detail-oriented, responsive, and extremely organized; able to manage a high volume of communication activities while prioritizing effectively and meeting necessary deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
