Position: Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach
Classification: Full Time, Exempt, Benefits Eligible
Reports To: Head Coach and serves at the pleasure of the Director of Athletics
Job Purpose:
The full-time Women’s Basketball assistant coach provides support and leadership in all aspects of developing highly successful programs primarily focused on instruction and mentorship for student athletes. The Women’s Basketball assistant is expected to be fully integrated into the life of the program, the athletics department and university mission. The position is an avenue to empower and build lives through the avenue of college athletics.
Essential Duties:
Daily throughout the traditional championship season
- Jointly plan and implement practice with the head coach.
- Plan and implement individual practices as assigned by the head coach.
- Set up equipment for individual and/or group drills.
- Give one on one skill specific feedback to players during practice and contests.
- Give group feedback to players during practice and contests.
- Evaluate and/or identify the team's effectiveness for the day and future concerns.
- Coordinate fitness and weight training sessions with strength and conditioning staff.
- Assist with development of social media regularly, highlighting team activities/accomplishments and portraying team culture.
- Prepare assessments of opponents and time standards.
Competition Responsibilities
- Prepare logistics around competitions as assigned. Travel, meals, itinerary, etc.
- Take initiative during warmups and during pre-meet preparation.
- Provide feedback throughout the course of competition.
- Positive reinforcement for athletes at all times possible.
Non-Traditional Season
- Enforce/Coordinate with strength and conditioning coach.
- Equipment inventory and setup.
- Equipment and apparel distribution and inventory.
- Organize individual one-on-one meetings.
- Prepare season schedule and travel plans.
- Work with the department for all necessary paperwork/certifications for the team.
- Get driver authorization.
Yearly Responsibilities
- Planning special events and community service.
- Arrange overnight visits for recruits.
- Prepare communications with families and alumni.
- Uniforms distribution, collection and inventory.
- Selection and organization of attire orders.
- Planning visit days.
Recruiting Responsibilities
- Become proficient with Front Rush database.
- Keep a record of interested students.
- Keep a record of accepted students.
- Keep a record of students who visited campus.
- Keep a record of correspondences sent to prospective players and coaches.
- Return correspondences sent to prospective players and coaches.
- Identify top recruits.
- View recruits’ profiles and progression.
- Send out timely emails about events on campus.
- Open House participation.
- On campus meetings with families.
- Provide Campus tours of recruits and families as directed.
- Attend showcases and perspective player’s games throughout the year.
Additional Duties
Performs any other related duties as required.
Position Details
Position is 67% instructional, 33 % recruiting.
This is a full time 12-month position with benefits.

video analysis (tablet), copier, printer, telephone, fax.

Qualifications
Verbal and Written Requirements:
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills in interpreting and completing assignments. Ability to provide courteous, responsive service.
Working Conditions:
Functions of this position require sitting, walking, and standing. A normal schedule requires availability during regular working hours, evenings, weekends and summer. Regular interaction with students, families, and the public. Travel is required.
Minimum Experience:
Successful experience at the college level is preferred.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
