Description
JOB PURPOSE: Provides various mail services duties for the campus community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
● Daily drives a Mail Services vehicle and picks up mail from the local U.S. Postal Service location.
● Sorts incoming letters, mail flats, magazines, newspapers, parcels, etc. Packs mail in pouches, and loads mail in vehicles.
● Makes campus mail deliveries and off-campus deliveries/pickups as needed.
● Provides superior customer service in all service customer interactions.
● Utilizes Qtrak software for the processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
● Prepares for outgoing letters/parcels sent via the U.S. Postal Service for pickup by Automated Mailing representative. This includes ensuring proper labeling and packaging for all outgoing mail.
● Ensures proper maintenance of student mailboxes.
● Advises departments of U. S. Postal Service regulations and techniques for cost savings and efficiency.
● Aids the campus community in tracking incoming or outgoing packages, as applicable.
● Maintains a neat, clean, and organized work area.
● Maintains records of student mailboxes, packages, mailing dates, and other required information.
● Sells postage stamps or other basic mailing supplies, via Square software.
● Assists the Mail Services Specialist with daily operations and responsibilities.
● Cross trains in the campus store to assist with inventory and other duties, as needed.
● Receive and track inventory for the campus store.
● Performs any other related duties as may be required.

Schedule:
Monday- Friday with occasional weekends and holidays as required by the needs of the University.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
● Must have the ability to lift or otherwise maneuver heavy materials, weighing approximately 50 pounds unassisted. Ability to maneuver items up-to 100 pounds with assistance.
● Must work well in a high-pressured and face-paced environment.
● Basic understanding of operating instructions and processes for machines.
● Basic understanding of or the ability to learn locations and organizational structure of the company.
● Basic understanding of postage rates and regulations.
● Possesses strong organizational and clerical skills in order to ensure that every package and letter is delivered to the correct individual on time.
● Demonstrates basic computer skills for the purposes of data entry and reordering supplies as necessary.
● Shows strong professional and communications skills for dealing with the USPS and other employees within the facility.
● Displays the ability to multitask and perform many different duties—such as delivering mail, collecting mail and answering questions—all at the same time.
● Ability to correctly sort and distribute large amounts of mail.
● Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
● Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must be able to pass a background check. Must have and have a valid Virginia driver's license.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or the equivalent education is preferred.
