The University of Southern Maine is seeking an Assistant Manager for Operations at the Sullivan Recreation and Fitness Complex. In this role, you’ll help assist with daily operations and ensure a welcoming and well-maintained facility for our university community.
The Assistant Manager for Operations assists the Assistant Director for Athletics for Fitness and Wellness with the operations of the Sullivan Gym and Costello Sports Complex, ensuring the needs of students, community members, and the public are met. The Assistant Manager is a keyholder and ultimately responsible for providing exceptional service to users of the Sullivan Gym. The Assistant Manager continuously assesses the services provided by the Sullivan Gym to recommend opportunities for additional revenue through programs, activities, and investments.
The Sullivan Recreation and Fitness Complex at the University of Southern Maine is a vibrant hub for health, wellness, and recreation. Offering state-of-the-art fitness facilities, group exercise classes, intramural sports, and recreational programs, the complex provides students, faculty, and staff with opportunities to stay active and build community. This is a full-time position with a starting annual salary up to $48,000. This position is located on our Portland Campus, with the expectation of work/service on the Gorham and Lewiston campuses as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, or Associate’s degree with 2 years of relevant lead, supervisor, or manager experience.
- At least three (3) years of administrative support experience.
- Excellent customer service and leadership skills.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification or ability to become certified within six (6) months of start date.
