Facilities Maintenance Worker CL1s (Custodians) are responsible for the cleaning of campus residence halls and auxiliary buildings to include daily, weekly, monthly and other cyclical tasks. The position plays an important role in ensuring the health and safety of the campus community. It is part of the team that is responsible for making the campus presentable for current and future students, faculty, staff and visitors. The position also assists with exterior tasks such as snow removal and sanding of building entrances and walkways. This position is located at the University of Maine at Machias campus. This is full-time, regular, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week position. Starting pay is $16.76/hr. Overtime opportunities. Consistent work schedules. Paid holidays, Sick and Vacation time. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Employee operates cleaning equipment, uses cleaning chemicals and materials.
- Performs heavy lifting in the removal of trash, moves furniture and equipment.
- Shovels snow from building entrances and walkways.
- May pick up litter within several feet of building.
- Cleans fixtures, furnishings and facilities in and around campus buildings in accordance with Auxiliary Services’ cleaning program.
- Works alone or in groups.
- Climbs ladders up to 12 feet to perform necessary work.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships that reflect courtesy, civility, and mutual respect.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing,reaching, grasping, standing, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with members of the Student; Residence Life staff, UMM administration, andthe campus community (especially students).
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
