Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Installation, maintenance, service and repair of facility equipment - includes but is not limited to pumps, blowers, motors, boilers, HVAC, heat exchangers, UV sterilizers, filters, piping, and automated controls.
- Position requires frequent use of power tools and test meters.
- The Mechanical Specialist works under the supervision of the Systems Manager or Director of Operations on project tasks, with general guidance on project priority and planning.
- The work is primarily non-routine in nature due to calls for service and the variety of assigned projects.
- Will be expected to assist other staff with building projects that require carpentry and piping skills, and to perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
- May be required to work with companies or researchers using the facility, to assist in installation, service and repair of their equipment.

Qualifications
Required
- Must have high school degree or equivalent.
- Must understand the full scope of mechanical trades work, with a minimum of three years' work experience in any one or a combination of: mechanical repair, facilities or equipment maintenance, building trades, electrical/HVAC or plumbing work.
- Must have a valid Maine Drivers' License.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as occasionally lifting heavy objects up to 100 lbs and frequently exerting up to 50 lbs of force, standing, and operating power equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand written operating and technical instructions.
- Ability to communicate with University staff to schedule and plan projects.
- Knowledge of Honeywell controls or related systems.
