The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking to hire a part-time, temporary Anthropology faculty member to teach and provide limited advising.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching in various formats such as distance or blended formats, syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations, course and assignment design, grading, office hours, correspondence with students, use of the online learning management system, course coordination meetings with other faculty members, and required orientation and trainings. Part-time faculty may be rehired for subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies.

The selected candidate will be required to teach in the Spring Semester (begins January 2025).

This position can be remote. There is also an option to potentially teach on campus if preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology or a related field
  • Strong commitment to teamwork
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills

Salary is per credit hour and commensurate with qualifications and previous experience, in accordance with the PATFA contract.
