If so, then you are encouraged to apply for the position of Residential Summer Guide with TRIO Upward Bound at the University of Southern Maine.

TRIO Upward Bound empowers first-generation, income-eligible high school students to explore and achieve their academic, career, financial, and personal goals. We are looking for dedicated, student-focused summer staff who have experience with and/or appreciation for the challenges faced by TRIO students. The Summer Foreign Language Teacher works with the TRIO team and other Upward Bound staff at USM to implement the academic component of the residential summer program. Program objectives include assisting students at various high schools throughout southern Maine, supporting them in persisting in high school, meeting academic criteria, maintaining good academic standing, and enrolling in a program of postsecondary education immediately after graduating from high school.

This is a temporary appointment for Summer 2025, between June 16th and August 1st.

Pay for this position is $5,000 total, payable in biweekly installments.

Days and Hours :

Hall opens for staff move-in: Monday, June 16th (morning)
Staff training begins: Monday, June 16th (morning)
Residential program weeks: June 21 – 27, July 6 – 11, July 13 – 18, July 20 – 25, July 28 – Aug 1
Staff prep week: June 30 & July 1
Staff close-out: Friday, August 1
Hall closes – staff move-out: Friday, August 1

Generally, each week students check-in on Sundays and are in residence until late Friday afternoon. Staff are expected to spend most of their time with students including eating all meals in the dining hall, supervising and being involved in student activities, and being present in the residence hall. Hours for training and when residential staff are specifically on or off duty during the days students are in residence will be provided during staff training.
