What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prospect Research Analyst position at University of Maryland - Division of University Relations?
The Prospect Analyst is responsible for performing prospect development functions, primarily in support of major and principal gift fundraising.
This position completes proactive and reactive research services and performs record management to support frontline fundraisers. Core responsibilities include compiling and analyzing data/intelligence on prospective donors, identifying new prospects for fundraiser engagement, assisting with the creation and implementation of new/enhanced policies, procedures, and protocols, and contributing to special projects to advance fundraising success. In addition to working with assigned development officer partners, the Prospect Analyst may also be asked to provide prospect development support for University Relations and university leadership.
The Prospect Analyst will serve as a resource for staff across University Relations on prospect development tools and techniques. The incumbent will also perform other related duties as assigned; the omission of specific tasks does not preclude the supervisor from assigning responsibilities that are logically related to the position.
Physical Demands:
This is a primarily a sedentary position involving extensive use of desktop computers. The position does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education Level/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Required Experience:
Two years of administrative experience, including database management, data entry, or market research.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and synthesize data into useful and accessible information.
• Advanced computer skills with demonstrated experience using Internet-based search engines, and an ability to work with relational databases. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word and Excel.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and work within tight deadlines.
• Strong problem identification and solving skills.
• Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills; very high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative, and be persistent, as well as to work collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to use good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information and adhere to professional ethics.
• Strong communications skills (written and oral).
