What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. EAP Counselor- Psychiatry position at University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc?
Provides short-term counseling, assessment and referrals for clients of the EAP. Conducts supervisor information and training sessions. Consults with supervisors, managers and HR staff. Serves as a lead worker to other EAP Counselors. May serve as back-up for EAP Manger and EAP Director in supervising the office; and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Consults and collaborates with medical providers and other team members regarding the
diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health and other psychosocial issues. Assists in effectively managing, treating and counseling patients with chronic mental health conditions. - Conducts psychosocial assessments, screenings and triage of patients, as needed.
- Develops individualized care plans for patients based on needs assessments which identify problems, goals, skills training, and other service needs.
- Provides support to patients to assist them in dealing with social, emotional, financial and or/environmental factors which affect their well-being.
- Provides short term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, as well as education and skills training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* Master’s in Social Work or related field
* Excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
* Excellent clinical skills in mental health and addictions treatment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ten or more years of experience
* Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) highly recommended
