What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vascular Technician - Surgery (Annapolis Location) - Less than 20 hours weekly position at University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc?
Under general supervision, promotes effective laboratory function and tests quality in the administration and performance of various noninvasive vascular blood flow tests.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Graduation from an AMA approved program in diagnostic ultrasound technology, preferred.
- Certification as a registered vascular technologist (RVT), preferred, or certification eligibility. Must have certification within a year of employment.
- Minimum of one year work experience performing vascular ultrasound testing.
- Additional technical experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vascular lab practices, operation of specialized ultrasound and vascular blood flow testing and related equipment, as well as universal safety precautions.
- Knowledge of how to evaluate arterial wave forms and tests in general.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1.Performs noninvasive ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels using continuous wave Doppler, duplex ultrasound machines, and related equipment to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation.
2.Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results.
3.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
4.Reviews charts prior to beginning test. Discusses concerns with physician.
5.Educates, listens, and responds to patients needs during test.
6.Assists with back office duties as needed within the practice.
7.Communicates patient results under physician direction.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
