What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mgr Coding Revenue and Auditing Optimization-Medicine position at University of Maryland Medical Associates, LLC?
Under the guidance of the Director, Professional Fees, the Manager, Coding Revenue and Auditing Optimization (MCRAO) is responsible for all coding and auditing functions within the Department of Medicine’s Professional Fee Billing Office (Billing Office). The MCRAO provides oversight of professional coders performing billing services, develops and monitors the Billing Office’s self-internal audit program, and works with Division Administrators and Compliance Liaisons to assess revenue optimization opportunities related to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes and documentation. The MCRAO works closely with the Accounts Receivable team to review and remediate claims due to coding denials; and other duties as assigned. This position functions with limited supervision and oversight. Requires coder certification.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare administration preferred
- Coding certification by American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA®) preferred
- 1 year of experience supervising staff, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations
- 5 or more years of experience in a medical billing office required
- PC proficiency, to include but not limited to, MS Office software required
- Knowledge of Athena/GE/IDX, EPIC, or similar computerized billing system required
- Knowledge of payers in specialty preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
- Compliance with all government regulations regarding billing, coding, and auditing required
