Ortho Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Job DescriptionThe R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for Orthopaedic Trauma patients. Working at the Shock Trauma Center, you become a vital part of a trauma team which cares for patients from admission through discharge.This position is 4 10-hour shifts, with rotating days.

• New Grads with Ortho experience encouraged to apply
• The NP / PA performs examination, evaluation, assessment and interpretation of clinical data to provide care to the patients with orthopaedic injuries. Professional practice is in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Our Department of Orthopaedics serves as a referral center for patients in Maryland and beyond. This position entails working some days where you will work solely on the floor, and other days that you will be in an ambulatory outpatient clinic.Primary Responsibilities :
• Interview patients for health history and perform physical examination
• Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests
• Document H & P, progress notes, and treatment plans
• Act as liaison between patients and physicians to coordinate recommended patient care as well as pre- and post-operative care.
• Caring for patients in both the clinic and hospital setting.
