Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Art Therapist to join our esteemed healthcare team. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in active art-making and the creative process to foster a psychotherapeutic relationship with patients. Your contributions will play a vital role in supporting patients' personal and relational treatment objectives while enhancing their overall emotional and psychological well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Art Therapy services to patients and their families, addressing their psychological, emotional, social, and cognitive needs as identified by the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family Art Therapy sessions, setting both long-term and short-term therapeutic goals based on thorough assessments and ongoing observations.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Art Therapy sessions, including assessments and progress notes, ensuring timely and thorough updates in patient charts.
  • Collaborate effectively with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to inform clinical care planning based on insights gained during therapy sessions.
  • Provide educational in-services focused on Art Therapy within the medical center to enhance understanding and appreciation of this therapeutic approach.
  • Develop and oversee an Art Therapy internship program in partnership with local universities, mentoring interns and equipping them to deliver appropriate Art Therapy services.
  • Maintain accurate statistics related to Art Therapy sessions to contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards in all clinical practices and in the management of art therapy resources.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in art therapy methodologies and creative processes.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with patients and collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Experience in facilitating individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate and detailed patient documentation.
  • Knowledgeable in psychological theories pertinent to art therapy practices.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Art Therapy or a related field.
  • Certification or licensure in Art Therapy.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative teamwork approach.
