What are the responsibilities and job description for the Domestic Violence Intervention Specialist Violence Prevention Program position at University of Maryland Medical System?
PRN 5pm to 7am
Under general supervision of the Center for Injury Prevention & Policy Manager the Domestic Violence Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing direct support crisis intervention case management and advocacy for victims of domestic violence sexual and human trafficking that have been identified as victims in the medical center. Intervene with patients providing assistance in safety planning lethality assessment advocacy resource linkage and emotional support to victims of domestic violence sexual and human trafficking who are treated here at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the University of Maryland Medical Center. Provides both practical advocacy services and support to domestic violence or sexual survivors and their children.
Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Social Work / Social Science / Health / Human Service related field required. 2 years work experience with victims of domestic violence may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- 2 years work experience with victims of domestic violence preferred.
- Masters degree in Social Work or healthrelated field preferred.
- Experience working in an acute hospital setting preferred
