What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant: Prep Center position at University of Maryland Medical System?
This position will work 7am-5pm, 2 days per week with our pre-op patients.
Under limited supervision, provides an advanced level of comprehensive health care to a specific patient population in collaboration with medical staff. Follows established applicable nursing and medical standards, procedures and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other support staff.
Evaluates patients scheduled for surgery at UMMC by obtaining patient’s histories. Performing physician assessments, and appropriate patient education. Seeks consultation with the anesthesiologist physician for all difficult or complicated cases. As necessary, obtains medical and pre-surgical data.. Provides pre-surgical care for surgery. Performs assessment, history and physical examinations orders diagnostic tests;
Assists Anesthesiology and management of specialists in the evaluation and management of patients for pre surgical workup and other aspects in accordance with anesthesiology guidelines.
Provides consultation and advice to others as a highly specialized practitioner and collaborates with other members of the health care team as needed to provide safe patient care.
Education and Experience
- Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
- Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
- Experience preferred, not required.
- DEA and CDS eligible.

Pay Range: $54.34 - $77.08
