What are the responsibilities and job description for the STIK HOTLINE RESPONDER position at University of Maryland Medical System?
- Under general supervision, responds to after hour pages to the UMMC blood borne pathogen exposure (STIK) hotline and counsels exposed employees about risk and actions to be taken. This job will be supplemental.
- Responds to STIK pages in a timely fashion.
- Interviews and determines risk associated with exposure per the Updated U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines for the Management of Occupational Exposures to HBV, HCV, and HIV and Recommendations for Postexposure Prophylaxis. MMWR June 29, 2001.
- Provides instructions for immediate care of the exposed site if indicated.
- Reviews available source patient information to assist in the identification of risk factors.
- Coordinates and conducts pre test counseling, and obtains informed consent, or substitute consent of source patient.

- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland, or eligibility for licensure due to compact state agreements outlined through the Maryland Board of Nursing, is required. OR current licensure as a social worker in the State of Maryland required.
- One year experience (nursing or social work) preferred.

Pay Range: $49.35-$74.05
