The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified transplant surgeon to join our abdominal transplant program starting next academic year. Faculty rank and financial compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials. Candidates should be board certified / eligible, or ABS equivalent and a graduate of an ASTS-approved transplant surgery fellowship program, and eligible for a state of Maryland medical license. The successful candidate should be able to perform kidney and pancreas transplants, laparoscopic / robotic donor nephrectomy and multi-organ procurement independently. Experience in robotic surgery is preferred. Opportunity for organ leadership role exist within division of transplantation and will depend on candidate credentials. This job involves primarily kidney transplantation, but opportunities exit to participate in liver transplantation. The Abdominal Organ Transplant program performs about liver, - kidney and 20 kidney-pancreas transplants annually.

Faculty will have the privilege and responsibility of helping to teach transplant surgery to the integrated trainees and will expand their research and scholarly activities to achieve national and international recognition as they advance the field. About the Division :

The Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine includes 8 full-time faculty providing transplant surgery services primarily at the University of Maryland Medical Center Campus with ancillary practices through-out the State of Maryland and perform between and organs transplant a year. The Division sponsors a two-year Transplant Fellowship program. The Division is home to several NIH-funded surgeon-scientists and has a Clinical Research Unit with over 20 prospectively enrolling clinical trials.

The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the DEPARTMENTAL faculty compensation program or pay from participation in DEPARTMENTAL variable compensation programs. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education / training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
