Ambulatory HIV Medical Director (3-309-1236) The Department of Medicine and Institute of Human Virology’s Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland School of Medicine are seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ambulatory HIV Medical Director position. The expected faculty rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate to lead and expand our HIV prevention, treatment, and research initiatives. This position will report directly to the Director of Clinical Care and Research, managing interdisciplinary teams, creating and managing budgets, and will work closely with University of Maryland Medical Center ambulatory leadership. This position will be part of the Institute of Human Virology faculty and will help develop strategic plans and partnerships with other HIV community care and research programs within the IHV to enhance the impact of our HIV-related efforts.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership & Strategy : Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the HIV program. Provide visionary leadership and foster a collaborative environment among staff, researchers, HIV providers, and community partners.
- Program Management : Oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of HIV treatment, and research programs. Ensure alignment with institutional goals and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Research & Funding : Drive research initiatives related to HIV / AIDS. Seek funding opportunities and manage grants to support program activities. Collaborate with academic and community partners on research projects.
- Partnerships & Advocacy : Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and policy makers. Advocate for HIV-related issues and represent the University at conferences and public forums.
- Education & Training : Develop and implement educational programs and training for staff, students, fellows, HIV providers, and community members and stakeholders. Promote knowledge dissemination and best practices in HIV care and prevention.
Qualifications :
Applicants must hold a MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible / board certified in Internal Medicine (or Family Medicine). Board eligible / board certified in Infectious Diseases is preferred but not a requirement. Applicants must also be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Maryland and eligible to work in the United States. Successful candidates will have a track record as a proven strategic leader with expertise in clinical management of HIV / AIDS, program management, and academic collaboration. Applicants who have experience applying for and overseeing grants through Ryan White, HRSA, CDC, and SAMHSA, as well as 340B funding operations, are strongly desired.
