The position will be a 50:50 joint appointment between ChE and BME. Individuals with research interests broadly across the entire intersection of ChE and BME will be considered. These areas include, but are not limited to biomaterials, pharmaceutical development, drug delivery, oncology, biosensors, and biotechnology. Applicants working in areas with a strong clinical and translational focus are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate is expected to teach existing graduate and undergraduate courses in Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering and will be encouraged to develop creative new curricula in areas of their interest or across disciplines. The projected start date for these roles is September 1, 2025. The Department of Chemical Engineering has 16 full-time, tenure-track faculty members, 3 lecturers, and approximately 70 graduate students and 210 undergraduates. The Department's FY 24 research expenditures exceeded $7.1 million. Additional information about the Department can be obtained at RequirementsApplicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field. Applicants must have demonstrated scholarly excellence and developed an externally funded research program, and the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an internationally recognized scholarly presence. Faculty members are expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, contribute significantly to the advancement of basic science and engineering as evidenced by scholarly publications, develop a nationally and internationally recognized program of sponsored research and support diversity and inclusivity in their scholarly activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a program of externally funded research. We expect the successful candidate to be committed to working within a diverse community of students and faculty and to pursue interdisciplinary research collaborations within the two departments and throughout the campus.
