Note : This is a full time, term-limited position ending 06 / 30 / 2029 and is eligible for UM benefits. Before the end of the term limit, it could be considered for a term extension or for transition to an open-ended position.

You will design and develop strategic marketing communications (print, web and multimedia) that visually and contextually communicate for the Office of University Development. Responsibilities include creating and presenting original concepts and designs for print and online projects, including web, email and social media assets, publications, print and PDF reports, and other deliverables. You must exhibit design and typography sensibility and understand the importance of brand assets : logo, type, engaging photography, compelling storytelling, infographics, etc. You will contribute to OUD's positive culture and adhere to OUD's values of diversity, equity, and inclusion by designing marketing collateral in a way that speaks to a diverse audience. Our goal is to show, through images, copy, and design, the joy of giving and how gifts are transforming our university and our students' lives.

You must be creative, independent, innovative, able to work on several projects simultaneously and work as a team with our other designers, project managers, copywriters, production managers, and web developers.

Reports to : Multimedia Designer

Responsibilities

Graphic Design (70%)

  • Concept and design a range of print materials to encourage, cultivate, and celebrate giving. These materials include the office's premier publication, Leaders & Best magazine, event invitations, reports, environmental graphics, direct mail, and other marketing campaign materials.
  • Design assets for social media, websites, emails, animation / video assets, etc. for use in university-wide and development marketing campaigns and stewardship projects.
  • Create and format digital presentations, templates, reports and other marketing materials in Google Workspace.

Photography / Videography (15%)

  • Retouch, resize, and manipulate photos digitally.
  • Assist in directing original photography and videography.
  • Other Duties (15%)

  • Conduct research and benchmarking for projects.
  • Help define and refine process for new ways to work across the organization.
  • Prepare files for press and work with vendors to assure consistency and quality. All materials must be consistent with our University of Michigan brand standards and must be produced within budget.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • A robust portfolio of varied design work
  • 4 years work experience in graphic design or similar
  • High level of general computer and software proficiency, with extensive experience in the Adobe Creative Suite and Google Drive
