The Social Medial Content Creator will be responsible for developing and executing engaging social media content to amplify the University of Michigan Credit Union’s (UMCU and EMUCU) brand, marketing, and community partnerships. This role requires a creative and proactive storyteller skilled in producing timely and relevant visuals and narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. Reporting to the AVP of Community Partnerships, the Social Media Content Creator will play a crucial role in building UMCU’s social media presence, fostering brand loyalty, and engaging the community through high-quality content.

What you will be doing in this role:
- Create, curate, and manage social media content (images, video, and written) to support UMCU’s brand, marketing, and community partnership initiatives.
- Capture engaging real-time content at UMCU events, including video clips, live stories, and photos to engage followers and create excitement around UMCU's presence.
- Develop a social media content calendar that aligns with key events, campaigns, and community partnership milestones.
- Design branded visuals and short-form videos to share UMCU’s message, ensuring consistency with UMCU’s visual identity and voice.
- Collaborate with the brand and marketing team to ideate and execute social media campaigns that engage target audiences across various demographics.
- Actively engage with followers by monitoring and responding to comments, questions, and interactions on UMCU’s social media channels.
- Analyze social media performance metrics and generate reports on engagement, reach, and growth, offering insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Stay informed on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure UMCU remains relevant and engaging.
- User-facing and back-end proficiency in the following social media channels: Meta (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Reddit, TikTok
- Brand, marketing, and community events and activations frequently occur outside standard business hours, requiring flexibility and in-person attendance.
- Maintains knowledge of and follows all credit union policies and procedures regarding BSA, OFAC, U.S. Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering, S.A.F.E Act, CFPB regulations and Customer Identification Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will need for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience in social media content creation.
- 3 years of experience managing and creating content for social media channels, with a portfolio demonstrating creativity and engagement.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social).
- Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills, with an eye for branding and audience engagement.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- The environment is typical of an office atmosphere, with moderate noise levels. The role requires frequent use of a computer and other digital tools, with occasional on-site work for capturing event content.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to sit, handle digital equipment, and communicate effectively. They may also need to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for content creation.
