General Purpose of Job:
Provide insurance-based services focusing on registrations, insurance authorizations, and charge entry in order to maximize the value, potential, and satisfaction of our customers.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Obtain billing information as indicated.
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verifications.
- Document and update insurance information regarding patient's available benefits. Communicate insurance information to patients and therapists.
- Communicate with patients, as necessary, regarding billing issues.
- Demonstrate effective use of EPIC, insurance authorization websites, submission forms, and office equipment.
- Crosstrain to appropriate department roles such as Rehab Scheduling and Authorization Specialist to competently cover other positions as needed.
- Cooperate with outpatient rehab Team Members and other departments to maximize the efficiency of non-clinical services such as the registering, scheduling, and billing of our patients.
- Seek ways to continually improve the value of our services and maximize our customers' rehabilitation potential by actively participating in activities such as in-services, staff meetings, team meetings, and continuing education courses.
- Participate in diagnosis preview/review and denial activities as needed. Communicate any trends regarding denials, pre-authorizations, or changes in insurance coverages to the leadership team.

Education | * Associate degree in coding OR High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program and one year experience with healthcare insurance and billing. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills | * Demonstrated verbal, written and oral communication skills. * Demonstrated knowledge of word processing and database software programs. * Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology as would normally be obtained through successful completion of a medical terminology course. |
