General Purpose of Job:
Responsible for providing assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients in assigned Practice(s), under the delegated authority and supervision of the physicians within the scope of medical practice set forth by the State of Michigan and the medical staff of Sparrow Health System.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Provides wound and hyperbaric patient care with supervising physician including physical exams and/or invasive procedures, ordering wound care, hyperbaric treatments, consults, laboratory, diagnostic studies and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies
- Assess patients, document care provided in the medical record, write prescriptions, and manage the care of assigned patients for physician review
- Collaborates with the health care team in planning and coordinating care for the patients
- Teaches patients and caregivers about specific disease processess, alterations in life-style and self-concepts to achieve/maintain their optimal health
- Counsels patients with regards to preventative health care and wellness
- Communicates with physicians and other health care agencies regarding patient treatment plans
- Develops and maintains an effective professional working relationship with all patients, families, physicians, and providers
- Maintains a safe working enviroment
- Supports the development of self, other caregivers, and students through mentoring and peer review
- Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives
General Requirements | * Current State of Michigan registered nurse license * Current State of Michigan certified nurse practitioner license * BLS |
Work Experience | * Minimum of 2 years nursing experience * Nationally accredited wound care certification (Preferred) * Wound care experience (Preferred) * Hyperbaric Medicine experience (Preferred) * Ambulatory/outpatient clinic type setting experience (Preferred) |
Education | * Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program * Completion of an approved Wound Care and/or Hyperbaric Medicine traning course within 6 months of hire |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills | * Must be well organized and able to manage time effective * Interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, their families, physicians, nurses and other Health System Caregivers * Ability to work in an EMR environment * Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned service area as related to the principal duties and responsibilities of the position. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. |
