Job Description

- Perform work throughout the UMH Region
- Enforce compliance with UMH Regional Safety policies, accreditation Performance Standards, MIOSHA/OSHA standards and other regulatory standards/agencies, as applicable.
- Develop the Regional/Enterprise Water Management Program including inpatient setting and ambulatory care centers
- Review reports from consultants
- Manage consultation agreements
- Report at IP and Safety committee meetings
- Make recommendation for remediation of issues identified
- Co-lead the water management program including Monthly Water Management Team Meeting(s)
- Lead Water Management Plan for all regional locations
- Perform/oversee Water Sampling at intervals determined by Water Management Plan - Including but not limited to: Legionella Cultures, Chlorine Testing, Temperature Testing
- Provide input and expertise to the Annual Water Management Plan/Risk Assessment
- Ensure compliance with design guidelines with regard to best practices related to aerators, sink design, Ice Machines, filters, etc. Make recommendation for remediation of issues identified
- Assist with investigations related to incidences of potential waterborne illnesses
- Recommend educational needs resulting from inspections.
- Assist with delivery of educational programming to Team Members.
- Assist in investigating safety related incidents.
- Accept and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Safety Director.
- Follow established HIPPA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information.
- Update Safety Polices
- Update SDS database
General Requirements
- Professions requiring licensure in the State of Michigan must have and maintain current licensure.
- Valid drivers license.
- See Education.
- Three to five years of experience in Environmental Health in healthcare setting - preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Biology, or relevant field and a minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Familiar with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 188 and other water quality regulations
- Working knowledge of relevant MIOSHA standards
- Some expertise or training in water quality and water health and safety is required and expertise with plumbing systems is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to take direction and complete projects on time with limited direction
