Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Assistant to support several mixed-methods and randomized clinical trial studies focused on suicide prevention in adults. In this role, you'll assist with NIH and VA funded research projects conducted in inpatient psychiatric settings at Michigan Medicine and the Ann Arbor VA hospitals. You will work in an exciting environment which provides support for professional growth activities and potential opportunities to submit and present at professional conferences in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team. Notably, you will be doing work that has real impact on patients' lives.

Responsibilities*

Position Specific Responsibilities will Include :

The main responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with participant recruitment
  • Enrollment of study participants
  • Conducting study assessments and interviews

Other responsibilities include:

  • Literature reviews
  • Data processing tasks
  • Medical chart abstraction

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Health Science field (including Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or other health related discipline), or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex healthcare setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Experience in health-related research.
  • Familiarity with conducting clinical assessments.
  • Comfort discussing sensitive topics like suicide with vulnerable populations
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Excel, REDCap, and at least one data analytic software (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS, etc.).

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week

Willingness to work outside regular business hours.

Background Screening
