Job Summary
The Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium (HMS) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Student Assistant to support our healthcare quality improvement initiatives on a temporary basis. This role will involve working closely with our team to enhance patient care quality through data analysis, various research activities, and project support. This position offers an invaluable opportunity to gain experience in the field of healthcare quality improvement.
HMS is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network funded . We are a data-driven collaborative made up of 68 hospitals across the State of Michigan with a goal of improving the quality of care for hospitalized medical patients.

Responsibilities*
- Project support: Coordinate with team members on project tasks and timelines.
- Data Verification and Maintenance: Compare database entries against required data standards and specifications to identify discrepancies or errors.
- Quality Assurance and Audit Support: Review audit corrections to ensure compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Grading Training Cases: Assess and evaluate training cases with a consistent grading methodology to ensure they meet predefined criteria and quality standards.
- Literature Reviews: Conduct comprehensive searches of academic databases and other sources to support the research team.
Required Qualifications*
- Currently enrolled in a graduate-level program at the University of Michigan, preferably in public health, healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in research methodologies or a willingness to learn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time, temporary remote position with flexible hours (10-20 hours) that can be arranged to accommodate academic commitments.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will adhere to the university's guidelines for graduate student employees.
